Student Competitions
“A horse never runs so fast as when he has other horses to catch up and outpace.”
We believe that a little bit of competitiveness can appeal to children as a motivation factor or practice incentive so we try to incorporate this into the learning journey, where suitable. We are aware this isn’t the case for every child, so there is no pressure to compete either.

For those who do like competing, we run regular competitions such as, "Name that Tune, write your own song, design the concert programme cover, write a piano poem, Xmas practice competitions (Santa's beard, colouring baubles), Easter egg hunt (through practice!), Valentines hearts collecting (through practice!)" and many more. Prizes are awarded for all who enter and of course - a bigger prize for the winner!

We also try to be involved in local music competitions as much as possible too, such as ‘The Southport Music Festival’ in which we usually enter some pupils in annually. Additionally we have taken students to the “ Sefton Music Festival” We also take part in the Formby Rotary “Young Musicians” competitions (the last one in 2019 due to the pandemic), "Fleetwood Arts Festival" and we have taken part in the ‘Southport Talent Show’ previously.
