About Us:

Hi! We are a team of music teachers based in and around Southport. We are on a mission to create confident pianists and musicians and committed to making learning music fun! We believe that we have the best teaching methods around and the happiest students in the area! We currently serve 200+ families in Southport and surrounding areas, and we are growing. We currently teach in Southport (inc Ainsdale, Birkdale and Churchtown), Formby, Ormskirk, Banks, Tarleton, Maghull and even as far as Longton and St Helens!

As our piano lessons are already well known and established under Southport Piano Academy in the area , our younger, sister company “Southport Music Academy” is now operating for our other music lessons. Our teachers can offer piano, keyboard, organ, guitar (acoustic, electric and bass), violin, clarinet, singing, flute, viola, ukelele, drums, saxophone, theory, improvisation and music technology tuition. We offer entry into the ‘ABRSM’, Trinity and LCM exams for all instruments taught as well as ‘Rock School’ for some instruments. We also regularly assist students with GCSE music, improvisation techniques, and performance tuition and support.

We run a thriving Facebook page (and Instagram) with over 5,000 followers and regularly upload videos of our students playing and their exam results (with parental consent). We find Facebook is a great way for our parents and adult learners to keep in touch with what is happening within the Academy and see what our students are achieving.

We aim to nurture musical development whilst providing a rewarding, self-esteem building experience. Children are encouraged on their musical journey with various challenges, stickers and certificates. We also have our own copyrighted theory course and provide customised and character practice charts. We run various student competitions on a regular basis such as our recent "write your own song" competition. We teach adults and children from as young as five years old.

We have been accredited by the Sefton Children's University for quality learning and are a Validated Learning Destination, with an official stamp for CU passports. Please check with your child’s school if they run the Children’s University scheme as we can stamp your child’s passport in order for them to gain credits for out-of-school learning. Our teachers are fully CRB checked; holding enhanced DBS certificates.

We enter for music exams throughout the year but also teach pop music, keyboard improvisation and other styles, for those who want to just play at leisure. We take part in the Southport Music Festival once a year and Christ Church mid-week music concerts.

We also have our bi-annual concerts for friends & family and like to take part in any other public performance opportunities in the area. Venues have included Dobbies Tearooms, The Little Theatre, Southport Indoor Market, Garden Centres, Cornerstone Methodist Church (Marshside Road), Christchurch and Lord Street West United Church. We have also recently taken students to play at Queenscourt Hospice, and other local nursing homes. We believe that encouraging our pupils to play piano in public is an important part of growing as a musician and a great confidence builder. It is also a lovely way to be involved in raising money for charity. We have raised over £14,000 in the last few years through our public event playing!

Our fees are very competitive in the area and we offer mobile lessons or to our private studios. A taster lesson can be arranged if you are interested in trying any of the instruments, before committing to lessons.

We support students from Southport and local areas including Birkdale, Ainsdale, Banks, Churchtown, Formby, Crosby, Leyland, Ormskirk, Aughton, Burscough, Scarisbrick, Halsall, Haskayne, Tarleton, Maghull, High Park, Kew.
